Immersed in the artwork of Jacques Vermeulen (1967), one finds themselves captivated by the theme of time and the profound human desire to understand the present and future by delving into the past or starting from today’s predictions.
In his exploration, the artist inquires the intersection of historical knowledge and today’s scientific predictions, employing analog and advanced technologies such as found in darkrooms and Fab Labs to translate and reinterpret the narratives embedded in our collective history.
The central premise of "Temporal Echoes" is the recognition that the past and the present are not static entities but dynamic repositories of lessons, stories, and cultural imprints waiting to be uncovered and narrated.
By examining historical and contemporary artefacts, narratives, and meta data, Vermeulen aims to connect the past, present, and future, inviting the audience for reflections.
